Building Practical AI Workflows for Research and Design

 

What is it?

As AI adoption accelerated across NAB, I was nominated to take on an active role within an internal AI community of practice as my design chapter’s AI champion, a chapter of around 40 people, exploring practical applications of AI for research, design and workflow optimisation.

 

Challenge

Many AI discussions remained theoretical or still just basic execution. Teams needed practical examples demonstrating how AI could improve day-to-day delivery activities while maintaining quality, governance and customer focus.

Moderated testing often required a notetaker leaving comments on a separate Figma or FigJam page, and the lead designer doing manual synth and outcome reporting.

 

My Role

AI Champion for the Lending Experience design chapter.

 

Approach

  • Completed AI and prompt engineering training
  • Evaluated emerging tools including Copilot, Cursor and Figma Make
  • Built an AI-assisted user testing and report tool within Figma Make
  • Shared learnings and practical guidance with peers
  • Promoted safe and effective experimentation with data safety measures

 

Outcomes

  • Demonstrated practical AI workflows for design and research activities
  • Increased visibility and adoption of AI experimentation across the chapter
  • Built internal capability through knowledge sharing
